SoleWay is a service (offered to you by Ghent University) that allows you to consult and add route descriptions that may help you and others to find their way from a starting point to a destination in a building. The service can be accessed through the mobile app and/or the website. In this way, SoleWay wishes to be the sole solution to find your way indoors. Using this service automatically implies that you agree with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy of SoleWay and Ghent University. Note that Ghent University may update or change the Terms of Service and/or Privacy Policy from time to time and that continued use of SoleWay automatically implies that you agree with these updates and/or changes.
Please note that this document provides an indicative overview of the restrictions and guidelines that are applicable when using SoleWay in any way. When in doubt, please consult the Terms of Service and/or the Privacy Policy and/or contact the SoleWay team via soleway.support@UGent.be .
When using SoleWay, either through the mobile app or through the website, please respect the intended use of SoleWay, namely sharing indoor route descriptions to guide you and others from A to B while respecting other users and their privacy. Using SoleWay in a way that is not in line with this intended use as expressed in the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy may result in the temporary or permanent termination of your account.
You may be asked to create and/or to log in to a unique SoleWay member account to be able to use certain services of SoleWay. It is completely up to you, at your own sole risk and on a voluntary basis to decide whether or not and to which extent you use SoleWay.
Following, it is recommended to use adequate hardware, software and/or internet access as these may affect the proper functioning of SoleWay. For example, high speed internet access is recommend.
Furthermore, Ghent University may modify or stop SoleWay at any time. Please be aware that Ghent University is not liable for possible consequences that the modification or cessation of SoleWay may entail.
In addition, Ghent University does not guarantee the availability of SoleWay in all possible languages and/or countries. Moreover, it is the user’s responsibility to check if the use of SoleWay is in line with any applicable (local) law.
Finally, please do not reproduce, copy, duplicate, sell, resell, rent or trade SoleWay (or any part thereof) for any purpose.
If you wish to add data (e.g. route descriptions) to SoleWay, please note that you bear the sole responsibility of its content. As such, Ghent University does not control or pre-screen the content posted on SoleWay, nor does it guarantee its accuracy, integrity or quality.
Ghent University does not claim ownership of the information you add to SoleWay. However, Ghent University claims the right to handle and publish the information and its content in line with the intended purpose of SoleWay.
The SoleWay team wishes to stress that it is not allowed to add material that is considered to be unlawful, harmful or not in line with the well-intended purpose of SoleWay. As such, Ghent University reserves the right at all times to determine whether the content added by a user is appropriate and may move, refuse, disclose, modify and/or remove the content at any time if such content is found to be in violation with the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy.
Therefore, you are responsible for backing up any important documents, images or other content that you store or access via the SoleWay. Ghent University does not guarantee or warrant that any content you may store or access through SoleWay will not be subject to damage, corruption or loss.
If while using the Service, you encounter content you find inappropriate, or otherwise believe to be a violation of the Terms of Service or Privacy Policy, you may report it by sending an email to soleway.support@ugent.be.
You can terminate your SoleWay account by sending an email to soleway.support@ugent.be. Note that terminating your account does not automatically relieve you from commitments you may have towards SoleWay or Ghent University.
When your account is terminated, you will have no longer access to certain services offered by or linked to SoleWay. In addition, Ghent University will delete all data (e.g. personal information) that are linked to your account.
Ghent University may terminate your account without prior notice if you have used SoleWay in a way that is not in line with the intended use of SoleWay, the Terms of Service, the Privacy Policy or other laws that are applicable. Modifications to SoleWay could also result in the termination of your account.
You may be asked to provide personal information when using SoleWay. Please note that Ghent University takes the security of your personal information very seriously and that you are not obligated to provide the personal information that is requested. If you wish to share your personal information, Ghent University may use your personal information in line with the Ghent University Privacy Policy and combine it with other information to provide and improve products, services and content. If you chose not to share your personal information, you may be restricted from certain products or services.
SoleWay also collects data in a form that does not, on its own, permit direct association with any specific individual. Ghent University may handle this non-personal information in any way and for any purpose. If non-personal information is combined with personal information, the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined.
Ghent University wishes to emphasise that personal information shared on certain services (e.g. forum, chat rooms) is visible to other users and that you are responsible for the personal information you choose to share or submit in these instances.
Ghent University may share personal information to partners that help Ghent University to provide services in order to provide and improve these services. It will not be shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.
In specific situations, Ghent University may be required to disclose or transfer your (personal) information (e.g. for purposes of national security).

SoleWay and related services may use cookies and other technologies to help us better understand user behaviour and to help to make your experience with Ghent University more convenient and personal. You may at all times disable cookies in your browser or mobile device, but please note that certain features of our services and websites will not be available once cookies are disabled.
As SoleWay takes your location into account to provide optimal search results, Ghent University may collect, use, and share precise location data, including the real-time geographic location of your computer or device. Unless you provide consent, this location data is collected anonymously. If you wish to not share location data with Ghent University, you may turn off the location based services settings (as applicable) on your device and computer. However, be aware that this may affect the use and functioning of SoleWay.
You must be aware that although you may use and enjoy the services provided to you by SoleWay, you do not own a legal right, title or interest in and to SoleWay and any software used as part of SoleWay. You are not allowed to copy or modify the source code and/or to claim any right on the software developed for and used by SoleWay without explicit permission by Ghent University. In addition, we ask that you respect the trademarks of SoleWay and Ghent University and all other trademarks or copyright notices used in connection to SoleWay. Finally, Ghent University wishes to emphasize that intellectual property and other laws are applicable.
It is important to realise that using SoleWay and related services is at your own sole risk and responsibility. In line with any applicable law, Ghent University is not liable to you for any damages resulting from the use of SoleWay by you or a third party, modifications made to SoleWay, termination of SoleWay or any matter relating to SoleWay.
